The Story Behind the Collection

Rêverie is the art of getting lost in one’s imagination, of allowing the mind to wander beyond the ordinary.

This collection is dedicated to my mother, whose curiosity, elegance, and endless appetite for life continue to shape my work.

My mother taught me to be an observer.

To search for the story behind an object, to imagine the hands that made it, to notice an unexpected pairing of colors, ancient patterns, or treasures brought home from a journey.

She loved the quiet of early mornings, the first light of dawn, and the sound of birdsong. She would turn my gaze toward fields of wheat and sunflowers passing the car window, or take me to an exhibition we had discovered by chance and tell me why something had moved her.

Through her, I discovered art, architecture, textiles, and culture. The films of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, the voice of Maria Callas in Madama Butterfly, and jazz. Her style was inseparable from who she was: precise, elegant, and self-assured.

As a child, I would ask her to dress me as a bride. I imagined myself as Odette from Swan Lake, about to marry a prince. I collected fairies and angels, a romantic before I even knew the word.

My mother saw that child. She understood her world, and she never once woke me from my reveries. Long before I knew fashion could become my profession, she took my imagination seriously. She was the first to see the designer I would become.

With Rêverie, I wanted to express how the world she opened for me continues to live within my work, through intricate handwork, rich textures, delicate contrasts, and pure romanticism, all the foundations of Lee Petra Grebenau.

The Fall 2027 collection features 14 couture bridal gowns, combining carefully selected laces, intricate embroideries, sculptural silhouettes, and delicate layers. Detachable skirts and toppers allow the gowns to transform throughout the celebration, while coordinating veils complete many of the looks.

Each gown carries a trace of something we once saw together. Not an attempt to reconstruct the past, but to allow those memories to become something new.

This collection is about what one person leaves within another.

A perspective passed from mother to daughter, quietly taking shape over the years, until it becomes a language of her own.

In loving memory of Yaffa Grebenau.
