An Italian Dream

A romantic escape into forever – Melanie’s love story in Tuscany
How did your husband propose? Share the story with us.

Alistair surprised me with a private dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in New York—Palma. The room had a beautifully set table for two, along with lots of candles and fresh cut flowers. It was intimate and very romantic, exactly how I hoped it would be.
Can you share the story of your wedding day?

Our wedding took place on June 14, 2025 at Villa di Geggiano in Tuscany. Alistair and I always dreamt of getting married in Italy and having a very intimate celebration with our closest family and friends. It was important to us both for our wedding to take place in a naturally beautiful setting and I personally always wanted our wedding to feel timeless and romantic, with a touch of vintage charm. When we found Villa di Geggiano, we completely fell in love with the aesthetics of the villa and the history of the property.

Can you describe the moment you knew you had found ‘the one’? How did you feel when you first tried it on?

I had tried on many gowns from other designers/boutiques, but nothing felt quite right. I knew exactly how I wanted to look and feel, but had to find the right dress to fit my vision. I stumbled upon a photo of the Blues dress and was very certain it could be the one. When I tried on the dress, I felt beautiful and the high quality of the dress and attention to detail was evident – the fit and construction of the dress, along with the delicate, feminine, romantic lace was just what I was after.
What was the most important factor for you when choosing your wedding gown? What made you choose this particular gown from Lee Petra Grebenau?

I always knew that I wanted a full lace look for my wedding day including some type of sleeves. I really wanted my dress to complement the aesthetic of the wedding and the venue. Keeping this in mind with the location and time of the year that our wedding would take place, I landed on the Blues gown. I loved the bodysuit with illusion lace because I could still have sleeves without feeling too hot or heavy on a summer day. I also loved that I could have 2 different looks out of one dress and that I could add some personal touches like the eyelash lace around the neckline.

Can you share a memorable moment from your wedding day?

It’s hard to choose just one moment, but here are few: Alistair and I walked the grounds of the villa early in the morning for a breath of fresh air before the day really started; our first look and couples portraits just the two of us felt so special, admiring each other all dressed up and finally taking in this moment that we spent so much time planning for; lastly, sitting down for our wedding dinner and admiring the table-scape, and then seeing a baby hummingbird come up to the floral arrangement right in front of us was so magical and special.
