Unveiling the Mystique de Mariée Collection with Lee Petra Grebenau

Following the unveiling of the Mystique de Mariée collection, we sat down with Lee Petra Grebenau, our creative director, to explore the heart and soul of this captivating line. This collection, inspired by the transformative journey of brides, reflects a harmonious blend of romance and mystery.

Read on to discover Lee’s thoughts on the design process and what makes this collection truly special for brides-to-be.

This collection is titled Mystique de Mariée, and it’s described as an exploration of a bride’s transformative journey. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this name and the overall concept?

The idea behind Mystique de Mariée came from the belief that every bride carries a unique mystique—something ethereal and deeply personal. I wanted to capture that subtle mystery and celebrate the depth each bride brings to her wedding day. The collection reflects the different facets of this journey, where emotions and beauty intertwine. It’s about inviting the bride to embrace her individuality, her grace, and the romantic allure she embodies.

How did you translate that concept into the design process? What elements of the collection reflect this sense of mystery and transformation?

We focused on creating gowns that are both versatile and transformative. Many pieces in this collection include elements like overskirts, removable sleeves, capes, and veils, allowing brides to express different styles in one day. These design choices reflect the evolving nature of a bride’s experience—how she can move from ceremony to celebration while maintaining an air of elegance and mystery. The use of French lace, silk tulle, and hand-embroidered details also brings a delicate yet intricate beauty to the gowns, making each piece feel like a story waiting to be revealed.

This collection features many intricate details like French lace and hand-embroidered florals. Can you tell us more about the craftsmanship behind these gowns?

The craftsmanship is really the heart of this collection. Each gown is meticulously created by our artisans, with many hours spent on every piece to ensure perfection. The French lace, guipure, and hand-embroidered florals were chosen to evoke a sense of timeless elegance, while also telling a layered story through texture. These intricate details add depth and character to each gown, highlighting the bride’s unique journey and making each dress feel like a true work of art.

Is there a specific dress in this collection that you feel especially connected to, one that perhaps embodies your creative vision or stands out as a masterpiece among the designs?

I usually don’t choose favorites among the designs, but Versailles holds a special place for me. It was a long project where I wanted to offer brides a gown that could transform throughout their day, providing an elegant, empowered, and royal look. The bodysuit, overskirt, and veil come together to create multiple styles within one dress. The overskirt, in particular, was crafted with a built-in corset which makes it a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. Creating this overskirt involved a level of artistry and precision that makes it truly special, adding both structure and sophistication. My hope is that wearing Versailles feels like a journey itself—one that allows brides to express different aspects of their personality in a sophisticated, regal way.

Lastly, what message do you want to leave for brides who are considering the Mystique de Mariée collection for their wedding day?

I want every bride to feel empowered to embrace her own mystique. This collection is about celebrating that inner allure and finding a gown that resonates with who you are. Each dress is designed not just to make a statement but to tell a personal story. I hope that when a bride steps into one of these gowns, she feels like she’s stepping into her most beautiful, authentic self. That’s what Mystique de Mariée is all about.
